Dr Ellie Chowns
Ellie is a Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, specialising in International Development. She has spent 15 years working for international NGOs including VSO, Christian Aid and Concern Universal in the UK and Africa. Ellie Chowns serves as a Green Party councillor and leader of the Green Group on Herefordshire Council. She was the Green parliamentary candidate for North Herefordshire at the 2017 General Election.
I believe passionately that we are better off in the EU. Only by working together can we address urgent challenges like climate breakdown. We need change - and Greens offer something different from the ‘business as usual’ politics of our broken political system.
Cllr Diana Toynbee
Diana’s career has ranged from Oxfam to Alzheimer’s Society and Adult Education, and spanned the UK, France and the Philippines. She now works as a translator and celebrant in Hereford, where she is also a volunteer with Refugee Action. She is a committed environmental campaigner, and prominent in Green politics in Hereford where she is a county councillor, and stood for Parliament for South Herefordshire in 2015 and 2017.
Cllr Paul Woodhead
Paul is a real community champion in Hednesford, Staffordshire, where he serves as a Green Party councillor on Cannock Chase District Council and is involved with many local organisations, including a stint as club mascot for Hednesford Town FC! Paul stood to be Staffordshire's Police & Crime Commissioner in 2016 and has extensive professional experience working in the waste management sector, specialising in recycling and the circular economy.
Cllr Julian Dean
Julian represents the Green Party on both Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council. He has been actively involved with the campaign to defend Shropshire's NHS from damaging cuts to A&E services, has helped set up a 'safer pavements' scheme and fought for better employment standards for young people. He works in the Further Education sector, where he has been a Trade Union representative.
Cllr Louis Stephen
Louis is the leader of the Green group on Worcester City Council and has championed putting 'grown-up politics' into practice in the city, as well as pushing for better local transport and cleaner air. Before he was elected, Louis worked at Worcester Bosch as a senior engineering manager.
Cllr Helen Heathfield
Helen is an expert in environmental economics and led on sustainability for the London Olympic Park masterplans. She has worked with various organisations across government and the third sector around the country, including in Birmingham and Herefordshire. Helen is a councillor in the parish of Canon Frome.
Kefentse is a Green Party activist from Birmingham, with a focus on equality and diversity. He has an academic background in environmental management and has worked in various businesses in the city. He stood as the Green Party candidate for Birmingham Ladywood at the 2017 general election.
